Rain Metal Systems, Inc. would like for you to understand the importance of your gutters. We have provided some commonly asked questions and answers about gutters. If you have a question please feel free to call us at 770-328-7609 or use the Contact Form at the bottom of this page.
Q: Why is my gutter system important?
A: Gutters are an important aspect of exterior water management for residential homes. Clog-free gutters can help maintain the structural integrity of your home. Gutters are designed to direct water away from the foundation of the home, reducing the risk of wet basements and foundation walls. Gutter systems also protect against landscape erosion and improve safety by directing water away from sidewalks and driveways.
Q: How are gutters sized?
A: Seamless gutters are often sized according to the roof area they drain.
5″ K-style gutters are the residential industry’s standard.
6″ K-style gutters are used for larger roofs.
Half-round gutters are typically sized 1 inch wider than K-style to provide the equivalent capacity.
Wider gutters may be required for certain hard-surface roofing materials such as slate and tile and are used on steeply-pitched roofs to prevent water from shooting over the gutter. Gutters should be positioned tight against roofing materials and the fascia.
Q: How do I know when it’s time to replace my gutters?
A: Regular maintenance can determine when its time to have them replaced. A good indication of this would be at the first sign of rust. Gutters tend to rust from the inside. Appearing as little speckles, orange in color, they show through the paint and will develop rusty colored stains at the end of the downspouts.
Q: What type of gutter is right for my home?
A: Always choose a seamless gutter system that is durable and that comes with a warranty to prove it. Aluminum gutters and downspouts are thick and durable enough to withstand the elements. Other gutters that we endorse are seamless and half round.
Q: How much does it cost to have new seamless gutters installed?
A: The best way to determine the cost would be to let Rain Metal Systems, Inc. come to your home and provide you with an estimate. Contact us at 770-328-7609 to schedule an appointment.
Q: I only need to replace a small section, can you fix it?
A: No job is too big or too small for Rain Metal Systems, Inc. We provide you with the best service available; we accept all jobs, no matter what the size.
Q: How do I maintain a free-flowing gutter system?
A: In order to maintain a free-flowing and clog-free gutter system, remove leaves, acorns, sticks and other debris using a hose. You may also consider having gutter screens or gutter covers installed. Gutter covers will prevent debris from entering the gutter.
Q: Will you remove the debris from the old gutters?
A: Yes, after we complete the job our crew will clean the area. We will not leave any debris on your property.
